หากเทียบกับแบรนด์อื่นแล้ว จะเห็นได้ว่ามีข่าวเกี่ยวกับ Windows Phone 7 จากฟากอัสซุสน้อยมาก ล่าสุดก็คือมีคลิปบรรยายเกี่ยวกับแพลตฟอร์ม Windows Phone 7 โดยที่เดโมจากต้นแบบของอัสซุสแต่กลับไม่มีการพูดถึงรายละเอียดของต้นแบบดังกล่าวเลย

ไม่รู้ว่าการเปิดตัวสมาร์ทโฟนรัน Windows Phone 7 ช้ากว่าคู่แข่งรายอื่นนั้นจะเกี่ยวข้องกับข่าวที่ว่า Garmin อาจพิจารณาถอนตัวจากธุรกิจสมาร์ทโฟน หรือไม่ ยังไงก็คงต้องตามดูกันต่อไป

Garmin-Asus to launch 1-2 Android smartphones before year-end 2010

Garmin-Asus is expected to launch 1-2 Android-based smartphones in the Taiwan market before the end of 2010 following the successful launch of A10 in September. However, the Garmin-Asus team will not launch smartphones based the Windows Phone 7 platform until the first quarter of 2011.

In cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), sales of A10 smartphones totaled 3,500 units in September and are expected to top 3,000 units in October, Asustek noted. Garmin-Asus will also promote the A10 in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Indonesia, and Eastern Europe.

Garmin-Asus also plans to launch, in Taiwan, a new version of A10 integrated with an EasyCard issued by Taipei Smart Card Corporation, which will enable users to pay public transport fares and shop at certain stores.

Garmin-Asus also plans to introduce its A50 smartphone, which it launched with telecom carriers in the US and Europe previously, into Asia markets, the company noted.
